We’re rebranding!

Sent on behalf of Dr. Wyeth Wasserman, Executive Director, BC Children's Hospital Research Institute

Dear Investigators, Research Staff and Trainees,

Over the last few months since I first announced the research institute is taking on the name and brand of BC Children’s Hospital, we’ve been working with our partners to refine the brand’s application to research.

Today, I’m pleased to share with you the refreshed BC Children’s Hospital logo that we are taking on as our public brand for BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. The logo has been updated for digital and mobile use.

To support you in applying our new brand, we’ve prepared a Rebranding Toolkit that’s available on the Research Intranet. The Rebranding Toolkit includes links for downloading the logo and new letterhead in Word format. The Toolkit includes guidelines for applying the brand to research, suggestions for updating your email signatures, and frequently asked questions.

Within the next few weeks, we'll receive templates for creating flyers in Word, PowerPoint presentations, and for ordering new business cards. All of these materials will be added to the Rebranding Toolkit, and we'll share updates with you via email and Research Operations e-Newsletter. We'll receive printed letterhead and printed envelopes, which will be provided to the Theme Managers.

As part of rebranding the Research Institute, we’ll change our email addresses to bcchr.ca and @bcchr.ubc.ca. Investigators, research staff and trainees will transition in November after most of the major grant deadlines. The research administration team will have new emails later this week. This transition will be as seamless as possible. Your current email address will continue to work for a long time to ensure you don’t miss any correspondence.

Today, we're launching a new URL for our website, www.bcchr.ca, which we've updated with the BC Children's Hospital brand. We’ve set up redirects to ensure our visitors continue to find us at the cfri.ca URL. Over the months ahead, we’ll redevelop our website to better profile the research community at BC Children’s Hospital.

We've renamed our research intranet ResearchHub with the new URL, hub.bcchr.ca. This name was chosen by your votes on a recent survey.

Rebranding is a big change, and I invite all of you to join me as ambassadors for our brand. The BC Children's Hospital name and logo is our public brand. Use this for presentations, publications, your email signatures and voicemail messages. BC Children's Hospital Research Institute ("BCCHR" or "Research Institute" for short) is our identity. Use it occasionally when needed for clarity: when giving directions to research offices, meetings or seminars, for example. We've used it on ResearchHub and on our interim website.

Our rebranding marks a significant milestone for research at BC Children’s Hospital and I’d like to thank all of you for supporting this major change by updating your email and voicemail, your materials, and so much more.

If you have any questions about rebranding, please email comm@cfri.ca. If you have any issues accessing ResearchHub, please email Research IT at noc@cfri.ca.

Sincerely,
Wyeth
