The goal of the BOOST Program is to improve the care of the smallest and most vulnerable newborns.

Specific interests of our research team include:

  • Neonatal hemodynamics and targeted neonatal echocardiography
    • Management of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) 
    • Effect of cardiac shunts on outcomes of extremely preterm infants
    • Effects of medications on cardiac function in preterm infants
    • Effects on therapeutic hypothermia on cardiac function in term infants with birth asphyxia
  • Prevention of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)
  • Parent and clinician engagement in decision-making
  • Evidence synthesis – Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
  • Guideline development – Canadian Paediatric Society, Neonatal Hemodynamic Research Centre
