Prepare for your visit to the BC Children\u2019s Hospital Brachial Plexus Clinic.<\/p><\/div>\n

Visiting the BC Children\u2019s Hospital Brachial Plexus Clinic<\/h2>

Your family will meet the doctor and physiotherapist who will ask you about your child\u2019s birth history, recovery to date, and any treatment that you and your child have been doing. They will also perform a full physical assessment related to your child\u2019s brachial plexus injury, as well as explain the nature of brachial plexus injuries, and the anticipated course of recovery. They will suggest additional medical testing, as necessary, and make treatment recommendations. As a teaching hospital, you may encounter students, trainees, and other medical professionals during your visit.<\/p>

Appointment durations may vary depending on each child\u2019s needs. Please allow extra time for your visit. <\/p>

As the clinic receives referrals from all over the province of BC, the goal is to recommend and support you in obtaining treatment resources within your home community. The clinic physiotherapist will also assist in coordinating a community-based physiotherapist to provide treatment recommendations and support between clinic visits.<\/p>

You may also self-refer to your local infant development program<\/a>.<\/p>

Additional visits and their timing will depend on your child’s needs and recovery.<\/p>

Directions and Parking<\/h3>

It is best to enter through the Teck Acute Care Centre, entrance 53, near the Emergency Department.<\/p>

The Plastic Surgery Clinic is located on the 3rd floor of the Ambulatory Care Building. This is the building with the Starbucks in it.<\/p>
