About Us<\/h1>

The Canadian Burkholderia cepacia complex research and referral repository is an internationally recognized resource for\u00a0Burkholderia<\/em>\u00a0infections in people with cystic fibrosis.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Canadian Burkholderia cepacia complex research and referral repository (CBCCRRR) was established by Dr. David Speert at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute in 1994. The CBCCRRR is an internationally recognized resource for Burkholderia<\/em> infections in people with CF.<\/p>

We have been funded continuously by Cystic Fibrosis Canada since 2001 to\u00a0provide species (previously known as genomovar) identification for members of the\u00a0Burkholderia cepacia<\/em>\u00a0complex of bacteria. We also can provide strain typing information, as well as identifications for other species which grow on\u00a0Burkholderia cepacia<\/em>\u00a0selective agar and for which the preliminary identification might be equivocal: such as\u00a0B. gladioli<\/em>,\u00a0Ralstonia<\/em>\u00a0species,\u00a0Pandoraea<\/em>\u00a0species and others. Most of our work is for cystic fibrosis clinics, however we are very happy to provide assistance to anyone else requiring identification of these bacteria. \u00a0For more details on submitting samples to us see our dedicated page\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>
