A portion of the facility operating and instrumentation costs are provided through financial support from the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and Foundation, University of British Columbia and Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) awards to contributing investigators.

BCCHR Core Facilities welcomes all new users
First time core users please register on Calpendo to create a user profile using your academic email. Your account must be tied to a PI who is also on Calpendo. If your PI is not on Calpendo, please ask them to make an account first. Once the account is approved, you will be able to log in and access the resource calendars to book training with a core staff. Facility Overview
The BCCHR Histology Core is a multi-user facility located on the 4th floor in the Translational Research Building (TRB) at A4-132. The Histology facility offers services for processing delicate and valuable tissue samples, automated equipment for tissue processing, paraffin embedding, micro-sectioning, and staining. Our dedicated research technicians offer consultation, experimental design, and troubleshooting and work closely with researchers to get the most optimal tissue sections tailored to each project. The facility also provides training on the microtome and paraffin embedder to allow flexibility in workflow.
