Research Overview<\/h2>

Our focus is on understanding the development of the immune system in newborns before and shortly after birth, and to use this knowledge to improve diagnosis and prevent infections (including sepsis and respiratory syncytial virus infections) in this age group.<\/p>

We currently focus our studies on the following themes: <\/p>

    \n\tA system\u2019s immunology approach to study the development of the human immune system before and shortly after birth.<\/li>\n\n\tNatural immune responses to respiratory syncytial virus infection during the first year of life.<\/li>\n\n\tEpidemiology and prevention of respiratory syncytial virus infections in British Columbia.<\/li>\n\n\tThe use of next-generation sequencing to improve the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n
