Co-Design Lab
The Co-Design Lab provides focused services to enable BCCHR Investigators to embed principles and practices of co-design and community-based participatory action research (CBPR) into their programs and projects.
Supports include:
- One-to-one consultation with BCCHR Investigators on how to integrate co-design and CBPR into their programs of research
- Sharing examples of successful co-designed and CBPR grant applications
- Help developing grant application budgets
- Providing letters of support for grant applications
- Training opportunities (e.g., how to build and support long-term relationships with community partners; how to design Guidance Circles and co-design processes; how to navigate power, trust, and relational accountability)
- Resources on co-designed and CBPR
- Annual Community-Partnered Research Co-Authorship Award (coming soon)
- Annual Community Partner Conference Travel Bursaries (coming soon)

Community Of Practice
Our Community of Practice (CoP) brings together researchers and research teams with all levels of experience and expertise to foster skills in ethical community-based inquiry. Our activities are guided by a Cultural Facilitator and Knowledge Keeper and co-led by people with lived experience. Our Guidance Circleoversees activities, provides mentorship, and identifies opportunities for future financial support to CPSH members who commit to participating in Hub activities. Our aim is to expand our CoP beyond Vancouver’s Lower Mainland to engage individuals, groups, and organizations from communities across BC, the Yukon, Canada, and globally.

Global Speakers’ Series
Our Global Speakers’ Series features researchers, community-based partners, and people with lived experience who share their experiences leading successful community-academic research collaborations.

Community Partnership Symposium and Gathering
We will host our first North American Community Partnership Symposium and Gathering October 8 and 9, 2026 to foster bi-directional among researchers, people with lived experience, and community partners. Attendees will learn more about meaningful community engagement, relationship-building, and co-designed research. The symposium will include examples of non-traditional, arts-based, and co-designed research activities, and well as engaged dialogues and community-based activities.
