As a pediatric electrophysiologist, Dr. Sanatani’s research focuses on the rhythm of the heart. Disturbances in the rhythm of the heart, or arrhythmias, can occur in otherwise healthy children or in children with heart disease. His research aims to improve the outcome of children who have arrhythmias.

Many potentially lethal conditions affecting the heart rhythm are inherited and Dr. Sanatani works on heritable conditions causing arrhythmias. This research involves collaborations with clinician and basic scientists from all over the world to improve our understanding of inherited heart rhythm disorders.

Dr. Lynn has proven expertise in iPSC and genome editing technology. He is also known for his discovery of six new ß-cell transcription factors, work on how insulin-producing cells form during embryonic development, and pioneering genome-editing approaches for use in ß-cells and embryonic stem cells. Dr. Lynn has extensive leadership experience as Head, Canucks for Kids Fund Childhood Diabetes Laboratories; Director, BCCHR Tissue & Disease Modelling Core; and co-lead, JDRF Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Research at UBC.

To date, Dr. Lynn has facilitated genome editing projects underway at BCCHR, UBC, SFU and across Canada.
