Core Facilities
BC Children’s is home to several specialized scientific facilities that couple technical expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to enable basic, clinical, and applied health research.

The Office of Research Services (ORS) at BC Children’s helps researchers obtain and manage research funding. ORS processes all applications by researchers for external funding for research and other projects.

Isabelle Linden
Director, Research Services
Isabelle Linden is the Director of Research Services and provides strategic direction and operational leadership in Research Services, Research Education, and Core Technologies at BCCHR. Isabelle has over 15 years of experience in the health care and higher education sectors, and her strengths include strong project management skills, expertise in contracts, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement. She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH), is a Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), and has demonstrated her leadership abilities by successfully leading cross-functional teams and implementing numerous new programs at BCCHR. Isabelle is a highly driven and results-oriented leader in the field of research operations.
Laura Christensen
Awards Manager, Research Services
Laura Christensen works on the Research Services team at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR), where she supports the research community by facilitating funding opportunities for investigators and trainees. She did her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences at the University of Canterbury and outside of work, she enjoys hiking with her dog and attending live music events. In her role as Awards Manager for Research Services, Laura oversees a diverse portfolio of funding programs across Research Services and Research Education, supporting researchers in their efforts to improve the lives of children and their families.
Jessica Sutherland
Coordinator, Research Services
Jessica has over a decade of experience in multifaceted support positions. As a coordinator for both the Research Services and Education teams, Jessica supports members of the BCCHR community via community and outreach event assistance; she also manages investigator membership applications and helps oversee the RCM Directory. With her prior completion of two undergraduate degrees and a technical writing diploma she brings effective communication skills and an enthusiasm for learning to her role.
Sharon Yau
Coordinator, Research Services
Sharon Yau is a program coordinator with the Research Education and Services teams at BCCHR. She supports the organization of a multidisciplinary learning environment for trainees and staff by providing opportunities to develop research and professional skills, network, and engage with the scientific community. In addition to working with trainees, Sharon provides membership support for BCCHR investigators and research community members.
