Dr. Evelyn Stewart is a tenured, academic-track Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia and is the founding director of the Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Psychiatry Research Program (BCCH-POP) as well as the Congdon Family Hospital Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health Research at BC Children's Hospital. She is a clinical, genetic and neuroscience researcher, as well as a child and adolescent psychiatrist.

Her research focuses on biologic, phenotypic, familial, population-level and treatment aspects of childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Stewart has authored over 150 original papers, reviews, and chapters on genetic, clinical, and treatment aspects of OCD and related illnesses. She sits on the Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation and is the Chair of the Research and Scientific Program Committee for the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

At BCCH, her leadership contributions include being founding Research Director of the BCCH Child, Youth and Reproductive Mental Health and the BCCH Mindfulness Centre, and past Director of the BCCH Research Institute’s Brain, Behaviour and Development theme.

2014-2016, CIHR Operating Grant, $175,485/year ($526,454 for 3 years), Neural Correlates in Childhood-onset Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. The goal is to compare neural correlates in CO-OCD and unaffected, at-risk sibling (SIB) groups with matched healthy controls (HC), in order to evaluate both their suitability as trait markers of genetic risk (to better understand the disorder) and their potential utility in clinical settings (to better manage the disorder). Role Principal Investigator.

2012-2020, MSFHR Clinical Research Scholar Award, $90,000/year or ($635,000 for 8 years), OCD translational multi-modal research program. The goal is to create an interdisciplinary, multimodal research program within the new Pediatric OCD clinic at B.C. Children’s Hospital. Role Principal Investigator.
