Every day, our researchers work towards breakthroughs to transform the lives of kids in BC and around the world. Learn about our latest innovations and advancements in child health.
Dr. Nadine Provençal, an investigator at BC Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor in SFU’s Faculty of Health Sciences, is among 13 researchers named to the 2020-2022 cohort of CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars.
Dr. Nadine Provençal, investigator at BC Children’s Hospital and assistant professor at Simon Fraser University, along with researchers from the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Germany have identified a “cellular memory” that could help explain how fetal exposure to stress during pregnancy affects how we respond to stress exposure later in life.
Can stress early in life – or even in the womb – make us susceptible to health problems as teens or adults? Mental health conditions like anxiety and depression often run in families, but typically aren’t the result of a single genetic mutation. So what causes them? If we understood how emotional trauma affects our…
At BC Children’s, we are making discoveries that save lives and transform health care for children in our province and around the world. Our research portfolio includes basic, clinical, population, and public health research.
