Dr. Abu Raya awarded Vanier scholarship for improving pertussis vaccine
In Canada and other developed countries whooping cough – also known as pertussis – is making a comeback. Despite a relatively high vaccination coverage, it’s still life-threatening for young children. World-wide in 2014 there were over 24 million cases of whooping cough and over 150,000 children under the age of five died from the disease.

Kids with harder to manage diabetes improve the most from insulin pumps
Kids with the highest blood-sugar levels experienced the most improvement after starting insulin pump treatment, according to new research from BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia (UBC).
