I am a pediatric oncologist whose research focuses on improving outcomes for children with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. As a leader and a collaborator, I have been involved in the design, execution and publication studies focused on identifying opportunities and implementing interventions for decreasing the toxicities of oncology therapy including short- and long-term medical complications and the psychosocial difficulties and burdens of therapy. A specific area of focus continues to be understanding risks for serious infectious toxicities attributed to conventional chemotherapy and immunotherapy and strategies for prevention. Within the Children’s Oncology Group, I am the vice chair of the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia committee responsible for studies focused on toxicity and tolerability of therapy.
