My work involves examining the effects of behavioral sleep problems on children and their parents. I am particularly interested children's difficulty regulating emotions as a result of short and fragmented sleep. I am also interested in the effects on parents of responding to children's wakes at night in terms of depression, fatigue, and poor sleep quality. I am a member of a team that has tested an online behavioral sleep intervention for children aged 1 to 10.

My work also involves examining women's health during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. I am interested in the effects of fear of birth, anxiety, fatigue, and sleep deprivation on women's birth outcomes and the outcomes for their neonates. I am also interested in women's perceptions of birth and how their perceptions interact with those of care providers to affect their birth experiences. I have also studied the health of fathers in the postnatal period.
