Kelly Chan

Kelly Chan joined BCCHR in late 2020 and is responsible for all strategic and operational financial activities at the Institute. Prior to joining BCCHR, Kelly spent over a decade in financial auditing and consulting, where she played an instrumental role in addressing clients’ strategic, operational, and financial priorities. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia. An active community volunteer, Kelly currently serves as Board Director and Chair for Visceral Visions Society with the goal of engaging and fostering an inclusive community.

Mike Gottenbos

Manager, Finance

Mike Gottenbos oversees the financial management of UBC fee-for-service operations within BCCHR, including budgeting and forecasting. He also oversees the financial management of PHSA research projects in collaboration with BCCHR. In addition, Mike is responsible for developing and negotiating budgets and payment terms for industry-sponsored clinical trials conducted on site at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. He efficiently resolves queries and provides valuable financial advice to faculty, research staff, and administrative and clerical personnel seeking guidance on UBC and PHSA research financial management matters.

Andy Lai

Accounting Assistant

As part of the Finance team, Andy plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth financial operations. He oversees the accounts payable function within the organization and is responsible for coordinating payments from PHSA and UBC accounts. His efforts help maintain timely and accurate financial transactions, enabling seamless collaboration and effective resource management between BCCHR and other organizations.
