Postdoctoral Training Opportunities

BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) is home to more than 200 faculty members from the University of British Columbia (UBC) who provide supervision and mentorship in a variety of research areas related to improving the health of children and families. 

Prospective postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to search our researchers, contact the research teams directly, and reach out to the University of British Columbia’s Faculty Relations for information related to the hiring process. The UBC Postdoctoral Fellows Office also offers support for prospective postdocs on the hiring and relocation process.

Trainee Benefits

BCCHR offers a number of research training awards. These awards are intended to assist promising postdoctoral fellows in advancing their careers, and ensure future excellence in medical care and research that improves the health of children and families. Training awards include:

Clinical & Translational Research Seed Grants

To promote research collaborations between postdoctoral fellows and clinical trainees, physicians, or other healthcare professionals at the Oak Street campus. $20,000/year

Postdoctoral Fellowships

For postdoctoral fellows undertaking full-time research in any health-related research area that has direct relevance to improving the health of children and families. $40,000/year

Research Methodology Training Grants

To help cover the costs of travel and living expenses for trainees who wish to participate in specialized training opportunities that are not locally available.

Sponsorship Requests

To support workshops, conferences, and other academic events organized by research trainees at BCCHR.

Trainee Travel Grants

To assist trainees to travel to prestigious national and international meetings and conferences to present their work, network, and learn.

Virtual Knowledge Exchange Grants

To assist trainees to connect with national and international research communities and disseminate their work virtually.

Clinical & Translational Research Seed Grants

The Clinical & Translational Research Seed Grant has been developed to support clinical and translational research projects taking place at the Oak Street campus, by promoting research collaborations between postdoctoral fellows and clinical trainees, physicians, or other healthcare professionals.
