Building the first Canadian national pediatric diabetes registry from a framework of equity, diversity and inclusion
A network of 10 childhood diabetes centres across Canada has partnered with patients, families and health-care providers to design the first national childhood diabetes registry. The network, called the CAnadian PediAtric diabetes ConsortIum (CAPACIty), aims to improve clinical care for children and youth living with diabetes.

Dr. Melissa Woodward is a postdoctoral fellow with UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. She has a PhD in Neuroscience from UBC. Her current research focuses on child and adolescent mental health and service utilization during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Shazhan Amed is an investigator and pediatric endocrinologist at BC Children’s Hospital and a clinical professor at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Amed will be one of five panelists at the Women in Science event on Feb. 10, 2022.
