My research focuses on the care of acutely injured and ill children presenting to the emergency department.

One of the goals of our research program is to better understand infectious diseases emergencies. This includes 1) characterizing the risk of serious bacterial infections in young infants with fever, to optimize the medical management of these vulnerable patients, and 2) understanding the natural course and complications of common viruses such as SARS-CoV-2.

The second goal of our research program is to improve the care of children who either present to the emergency department with a painful condition or undergo painful procedures in the emergency department.
