Graduate Students

We provide expert guidance in a training environment that produces skilled and confident researchers.

Graduate Training Opportunities

BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) is home to more than 200 faculty members from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) who provide supervision and mentorship in a variety of research areas related to improving the health of children and families. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to search our researchers and contact UBC’s Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies or SFU’s Faculty of Graduate Studies regarding admission requirements and the application process.

Seeking Research Credit to Fulfill Degree Requirements for Your Home Institution?

Visiting graduate students may be eligible to obtain research credit at their home institution by engaging in research training opportunities at BCCHR. Consult UBC’s Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies or SFU’s Faculty of Graduate Studies for more information.

Please note: Visiting students engaged in research activities who are not taking courses may be required to pay noncredit activity and student fees. Supervisors may cover these costs, however, this is at their discretion. For more information, review the International Student Guide.

Trainee Benefits

Once enrolled in a graduate degree program, BCCHR provides a number of research training awards. These awards are intended for graduate students actively engaged in research at BC Children’s Hospital and/or BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre who are supervised by our researchers. Training awards include:
