Strategic Plan
The Heart of Our Strategy
Our Strategic Plan guides BCCHR’s path from 2024–2029 as we work towards achieving our vision and strategic priorities. It will be a living, breathing plan that adapts to the environment in which we operate to best serve the children and families of BC, the Yukon, and beyond. We are building on what is already working and allowing our successes to shape additional goals and initiatives.

Values
What we stand for
We embody excitement and a spirit of positive risk-taking. We encourage bravery and commitment to exploring new frontiers in child health.
We uphold the highest standards of research ethics, demonstrating ethical and moral accountability in all of our pursuits.
We foster a culture of curiosity that encourages exploration and creativity.
A sense of community permeates our work, uniting clinicians, researchers, administrators, trainees, patients, and families in a shared mission to advance pediatric health care.
Our research is driven by the principle that every child deserves to have their health needs addressed and their potential future health problems prevented.
Strategic Plan 2024–2029
Our Strategic Plan sets out where we are headed and how we will focus our efforts from 2024 to 2029. It highlights our key priorities and the role research plays in improving the lives of children and families.
2024-2029 Strategic PlanShaped By Our Community
More than 300 voices — including patients, families, partners, and members of our research community — came together to shape the BCCHR 2024–2029 Strategic Plan. Through interviews, focus groups, surveys, leadership sessions, and open calls for input, our community co-created a shared vision to guide our work over the next five years.
Super Hubs
The BCCHR 2024–2029 Strategic Plan introduced a new model for collaboration across our institute. At the heart of this are our Super Hubs — dynamic, cross-cutting spaces where researchers, clinicians, and community partners are working together on BCCHR’s key research and community priorities.
Precision Health Initiative
The Precision Health Initiative (PHI) is building a cohesive, institute-wide program to accelerate and unify precision health research at BCCHR. By integrating cutting-edge technologies, expertise, and clinical pathways, the PHI aims to make individualized, data-driven care accessible to every child who can benefit.
