Graduate Students & Postdoctoral Fellows

We provide expert guidance in a training environment that produces skilled and confident researchers.

Graduate Student & Postdoctoral Fellows Training Opportunities

BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) brings together faculty from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) across multiple departments. Researchers collaborate across diverse fields with a shared goal of improving the health and well-being of children and families.

BCCHR does not offer formal training programs that place prospective graduate students or postdoctoral fellows directly into research or clinical teams. All student and fellow appointments are made through their respective universities (UBC or SFU), with supervision provided by a BCCHR Investigator.

Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students interested in research opportunities or mentorship are encouraged to:

Prospective students may also be interested in UBC’s Faculty of Medicine Women+ and Children’s Health Sciences (WACH) program. This interdisciplinary program spans biomedical, clinical, health services, and population health research. Key areas of study include reproductive biology, fetal and perinatal development, mental health, and pediatrics. Jointly offered through UBC’s Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pediatrics, the program provides comprehensive, research-focused training with Investigators based at BCCHR.

Prospective Postdoctoral Fellows

Prospective postdoctoral fellows interested in research opportunities or mentorship are encouraged to:

  • Search our researchers
  • Contact individual researchers or research teams directly about potential opportunities or available positions

Visiting Graduate Students & Postdoctoral Fellows

Visiting students and fellows may be eligible to receive research credit or extend an appointment from their home institution by participating in research training with a BCCHR Investigator. You will need to consult your home institution for eligibility requirements. Visiting students engaged in research activities may be required to pay non-credit activity and student fees.
