Canada should anticipate a resurgence of a childhood respiratory virus as COVID-19 physical distancing measures are relaxed, according to BC Children's Hospital researchers in their commentary in CMAJ (Canadian Medical Association Journal).
BC Children's Hospital Research Institute is located on the BC Children's Hospital campus, giving our researchers access to the largest clinical service of its kind in Canada. BC Children's is the major referral centre in BC for acutely ill or injured children, serving over 85,000 children and youth each year.
The Research Institute is comprised of more than 350,000 square feet spanning six research buildings as well as additional research space in BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre and labs/offices housing University of British Columbia personnel.
Our facilities include 'wet bench' laboratories and 'dry labs' for clinical and population health research. Several specialized scientific core technologies and services couple technical expertise and services with state-of-the-art equipment and support basic research, clinical investigation and applied health research.
Education & Training Facilities
Our Research Education Centre includes the 205-seat Chan Centre for Family Health Education, and the Chieng Family Atrium and Education Link. These facilities provide seminar and education rooms for our researchers and trainees, as well as other health professionals from BC Children's, BC Women's, and partner organizations.
The Research Institute has a wide variety of facilities with the capacity to accommodate groups ranging in size from six to 200 people.
