My research explores how exercise affects the development of the heart and arteries. While substantial evidence exists demonstrating the beneficial effects of physical activity on cardiovascular disease risk, we do not have a clear understanding of how regular exercise can change the structure and function of our heart and vascular system, and how this differs in men and women. Gaining knowledge in this area is important for us to effectively prescribe exercise for the prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease.
