Investigator, British Columbia Mental Health and Substance Use Services Research Institute

My research interests involve investigation of cognitive and other neurobehavioral impairments in psychiatric illnesses including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Specific areas of inquiry include the study of executive, memory, and self-regulatory or metacognitive functions in these disorders, and cognitive functioning in treatment resistant psychosis. I am also interested in investigating longitudinal changes in neuropsychological functioning early in the course of bipolar disorder, and determining the extent to which identified cognitive deficits predict functional outcomes in daily life. A final area of interest involves the study of the association between specific psychiatric symptoms and underlying core cognitive impairments in psychotic and affective disorders.
