1 in 5 children have a developmental, physical or chronic health condition: many of these children are also impacted by poverty, migration, discrimination and other stressors which worsen their health and future trajectories. As a participatory research methodologist, I work with children and their families to co-design and test social and behavioral interventions to reduce these health disparities through my lab (www.thecompasslab.org). Like a compass, I strive to help all children live their healthiest lives, centering on those who live at the margins. My work has directly improved care through informing policy, and developing new programs and toolkits, all of which are co-created with the families they serve.

MiNav: Co-designing a navigation support program for migrant children with special health needs: A randomized controlled trial

This randomized controlled trial is evaluating the impact of a co-designed navigation program to reduce barriers to care for migrant children with special health care needs in Toronto and Montreal.

INCLUDE: Including Newcomer Families in Longitudinal Studies through Co-Design

This is a multi-phase study that is co-led with a team of migrant parents to improve representation of newcomer families in longitudinal research. We have developed and are testing a toolkit for researchers.
