Rising Scholars Summer Studentship Application

There are three types of applications for the Summer Student Research Program (SSRP):

• 1. Summer Studentship Application | Deadline — Friday, January 22, 2027
• 2. Rising Scholars Summer Studentship Application | Deadline — Monday, November 30, 2026
• 3. Education Program Application | Deadline — Friday, April 30, 2027 OR until the program is full

The Summer Student Research Program is intended for students with limited research experience who are looking to build foundational research skills. It may not be the best fit for students with extensive prior research experience.

The information below applies to the Rising Scholars Summer Studentship Application.

Application Details

The Rising Scholars Summer Studentship is dedicated to creating more inclusive opportunities in child health research. This program provides funding and hands-on research experience to undergraduate students from equity-denied communities, who may not otherwise have the means or access to participate in summer research placements.

This award is intended for students who live outside the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley regions.

Students who return home during the summer to live in following communities are not eligible for this award: Abbotsford, Anmore, Bowen Island, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Delta, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope, Ladner, Langley, Lions Bay, Maple Ridge, Mission, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Surrey, Tsawwassen, Vancouver, West Vancouver or White Rock.

Studentship recipients are automatically enrolled in the Summer Student Research Program, and expected to complete at least 8 hours of the education program activities by 11:59 pm on Friday, July 23, 2027.
