Our aim is to become one of the top pediatric research institutes in North America. To achieve this, the Strategic Plan 2024–2029 builds on our existing strong research capabilities and charts a new course for building capacity, ensuring excellence, and transferring knowledge.

This five-year strategic framework serves to guide the Research Institute's organizational development, support consolidation of research leadership, and establish key strategic research directions for the next five years.

BCCHR researchers develop new way to match young cancer patients with the right drugs

A pan-Canadian team has developed a new way to quickly find personalized treatments for young cancer patients, by growing their tumours in chicken eggs and analyzing their proteins.

The team, led by researchers from BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and the University of British Columbia, is the first in Canada to combine these two techniques to identify and test a drug for a young patient's tumour in time for their treatment.

Unlocking the mystery of nephrotic syndrome in kids: Q&A with new investigator Dr. Susan Samuel

Pediatric nephrologist Dr. Susan Samuel, a new investigator who joined BCCHR in September 2024, has been investigating ways to improve the quality of life of children diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome.
