We are pleased to announce the creation of a new Institute for Global Health (IGH; formerly the Centre for International Child Health) at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. The Centre for International Child Health (CICH) was established in 2004 at BC Children’s Hospital to serve as a leadership and coordinating body for international initiatives and positioned BC Children’s as a key contributor to global child and women’s health. Over the last several years, the faculty and staff at C&W and partners have been working together to re-envision CICH as an institution that works across C&W. To this end, we have created a new Institute that has a shared vision and strategy centred on our commitment to equity in health globally. This exciting new Institute will consolidate and expand the important global health activity underway at the Centre for International Child Health and other global health activities across C&W in order to build a connected global health community that leverages our existing strengths and inspires us to innovate.
