SPRINT-Kids Study
National surveillance study that monitors respiratory and infectious diseases in children presenting to emergency departments across Canada. This project is conducted through a partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and aims to better understand disease epidemiology, risk factors, clinical outcomes, and the impact of vaccination and public health measures on pediatric infectious illnesses. ALICE Study
Multi-centre, Health Canada-regulated randomized clinical trial evaluating anxiolysis for children undergoing laceration repair in the emergency department. The study compares intranasal dexmedetomidine, intranasal midazolam, and inhaled nitrous oxide to determine which approach most effectively reduces procedural distress while improving the care experience for children and families. SENTINEL Study
Multi-country retrospective observational study examining pediatric sepsis in emergency departments. By collecting standardized data on children with suspected community-acquired sepsis, the study aims to describe sepsis prevalence, severity, management, antimicrobial use, and outcomes, while supporting the design of future international trials to improve childhood sepsis care. Ibuprofen Study
Prospective pilot study examining genetic predictors of ibuprofen response in children with acute extremity injuries in the emergency department. By collecting pain scores, follow-up outcomes, and pharmacogenetic data, the study aims to explore whether ibuprofen is effective and safe across all pediatric populations, or whether certain children may benefit from alternative analgesic approaches to better inform future pain management standards. This study is being conducted as part of the Canadian Pharmacogenomics Network for Drug Safety (CPNDS) Ibuprofen Pharmacogenomics Study. PRoSEED Study
Multi-centre study examining delayed behavioural changes in children following procedural sedation or anxiolysis in emergency departments, dental offices, and hospital sedation services. The study aims to determine how commonly children experience disrupted sleep, anxiety, or aggression following sedation and whether factors such as age, pre-procedural anxiety, and post-sedation pain may increase the risk.
