After Dr. Sylvia Cheng treated an 8-year-old girl with a brain tumour, the girl’s parents asked whether an earlier diagnosis would have made a difference. The question prompted Dr. Cheng to collaborate with colleagues on research to improve early detection of pediatric central nervous system tumours.
There are currently no evidence-based guidelines for medical marijuana use in pediatric patients. Dr. Rod Rassekh is focused on research that will provide better understanding on the risks and potential benefits of therapeutic cannabis.
New research indicates that the majority of trans youth want to continue virtual health care visits after the COVID-19 pandemic ends. Virtual care can increase feelings of safety, reduce travel-related costs and time taken off work or school, and facilitate connections with physicians and multidisciplinary health-care teams.
