The International Indigenous Genomics Advisory Committee (IIGAC), is a panel of international Indigenous experts including Indigenous scholars from Canada, the United States, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand (Aotearoa). The IIGAC is providing the Silent Genomes research team with external guidance, insight and advice on the projects’ strategic goals and deliverables, as well as providing insight into International best practices.
The Silent Genomes Indigenous Rare Disease Diagnosis Steering Committee (S-GIRDD SC) is being established to provide cultural oversight, strategic guidance, and input on decisions related to the creation of the Indigenous Background Variant Library, and its use for Precision Diagnosis in Indigenous children with undiagnosed genetic conditions. It will operate within the SG Project, and as a sustainable tool for diagnosis and related research beyond the Silent Genomes Project.
We believe there’s nothing we can’t do with your support. It can take years to turn scientific breakthrough into new interventions and treatments. Funding helps speed the pace of change. When given the resources, we can bring transformative therapies – and hope – out of the laboratory and into the clinic to save and improve children’s lives.
